School district seeks bids for repairs

The rain comes down, water seeps in, the siding peels away at Sisters High School.

The Sisters School District has opened bidding on exterior repairs to Sisters High School.

Construction crews will replace the siding, soffits, and some roof panels at the high school over the summer.

According to the most current estimates developed by construction manager Bob Martin and architect Scott Steele, the repairs are expected to cost approximately $701,000, including a 20 percent contingency.

The school district has borrowed $800,000 against the value of the Lundgren Mill property to cover the cost of repairs.

Sealed bids will be received from interested contractors until noon on Wednesday, May 30.

The largest problem with the building, which opened in 1993, is the failure of the Exterior Insulation and Finishing System (EFIS) in some areas due to water intrusion.

The siding will be replaced, as will soffits that have suffered water damage. Some roof panels will be replaced, but the district escaped the huge cost of complete roof replacement.

Prime bidders are required to attend a conference to answer questions regarding the project.

All interested general contractors, sub-contractors, and suppliers are invited to attend.

The conference will be held on Monday, May 21, at 10 a.m. at the Lecture/Drama Room at Sisters High School.

All visitors must register at the office and receive visitors passes to attend the conference.
