Letters,
letters, letters
Failed to execute CGI : Win32 Error Code = 3 I would like to comment on the article "Fire damages Black Butte Ranch
Home" (The Nugget, June 27, page 1).
I feel I must write this letter as my husband is an employee of the Black
Butte Ranch Maintenance Department and I think that credit should be given
where credit is due.
The commendations to the fire departments, state forestry, and U.S. Forest
Service are well deserved, however, you make no mention of the Black Butte
maintenance department and utilities personnel that spent three hours
working right along with these units, directing traffic, building fire
lines, pushing nearby stumps away so as not to catch fire, shoveling and
hosing down hot spots, tearing down an added on shed so that fire burning
inside could be procured; not to mention that it was a Black Butte Maintenance
employee that was the first on the scene, using a neighbors hose to fight
flames.
So in ending, hooray for the fire department's forestry persons; and
a big thank you Black Butte Ranch maintenance and utilities departments!
Regards,

To the Editor:
On June 23-24 Katie Powers and I participated in the seventh annual "Relay
for Life" cancer walk.
Together, we raised over $1,800 and with the help of friends we walked
22 hours.
This letter is to thank everyone who gave us a donation. Whether it was
a little or a lot, everything helped. I think next year we can do better.
Next year when someone asks you for a donation for this cause, please
be generous.
The American Cancer Society is one of the few charitable contributions
you can make where most of the money goes to research.
Failed to execute CGI : Win32 Error Code = 3 When you think about it, is there anyone you know who has not been touched
by this devastating disease? If you haven't been touched by cancer you
are so fortunate. If you have had cancer and survived, congratulations,
you are among the growing number who have benefited from the research
done.
If you have lost someone to cancer, you know how important it is to keep
this fight going. I have been in both categories having survived cancer
five years ago and losing my husband to cancer 7 months ago.
Maybe it will be your dollars that will fund the research to end this
terrible disease. This is so important.
So next spring (or before) Katie and I will be asking for help again
and will be grateful for any and all donations. For all who gave this
year, you are definitely in my prayers.

Failed to execute CGI : Win32 Error Code = 3 This is a thank you from my heart to all the members of the Sisters Kiwanis Club, the Bend Noon Club, and other members of the Sisters community who donated pledges and walking time to Relay For Life on June 23-24. Relay for Life is a 24 hour cancer walk. The people who walked for our team, invested 22-1/2 hours of time on the track, and pledged over $1,800 for cancer research and outreach programs. My hat is off to the wonderful people of Sisters, Oregon. Thank you, Katie Powers |
