Sisters man indicted on theft charges

Failed to execute CGI : Win32 Error Code = 3
A Deschutes County Grand Jury indicted Shawn Curtis Holt of Sisters on a charge of first degree theft last week, in connection with the theft of thousands of dollars worth of stereo and electronic equipment and tools from Radio Shack in Sisters.

The alleged thefts took place between March 15 and April 15, 2001, according to the indictment.

Holt, 21, was an employee at the Sisters Radio Shack store.

After a lengthy investigation by the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office, Holt allegedly admitted to the theft.

According to sheriff's office reports, a deputy became suspicious of Holt after he reported some stereo equipment stolen from his truck. The stereo was recovered, along with several other Radio Shack items that Holt did not report.

The deputy concluded that "since Holt was reluctant to report them, they might have been stolen from Radio Shack."

Holt allegedly made piecemeal admissions as the investigation continued through a series of interviews with Holt and others.

Most of the stolen property was recovered, some of it hidden in a crevasse near Tumalo Reservoir.

The aggregate amount of the theft was an estimated $6,311, according to sheriff's office reports.

The amount led to the first degree theft charge, a Class C felony.
