Sheriff's calls
- A man was reported missing when he walked out of his cabin in McKenzie
Canyon on Wednesday, November 14, after his girlfriend of seven years
turned down his (third) marriage proposal.
The couple lives in Corvallis. The man called later that day, telling
his girlfriend to drive home, that he was all right and he would see
her there.
When there was no sign of him after three days, the girlfriend called
police. They investigated, searching the area around the cabin, inquiring
at local motels -- no sign of the jilted man.
He turned up in Corvallis on Monday, November 19. All is well.
- SOAR reported the theft
of $250 in receipts from a candy sale fund-raiser for new basketball
jerseys.
- A driver swerved to avoid
a dog and took out some mailboxes. The damage will be made good (but
not by the dog).
- A man contacted a stranger
who was standing in his driveway. The stranger said "Hi," and asked
how the man was doing. The man thought the stranger was trying to look
through his garage windows.
The man got a license number
and a deputy tracked the stranger down to find out what he was up to.
The stranger said he was
"out meeting new people."
Information in "Sisters
sheriff's calls" is taken from reports of the Deschutes County Sheriff's
Office.
