Board
names school contractor
Kirby Nagelhout Construction
of Bend will serve as the Construction Manager/General Contractor (CM/GC)
for the new Sisters High School.
The Sisters School Board selected
Nagelhout for the post after a four-hour interview session with three
final candidates.
The selection is contingent
upon negotiation of a final contract and "guaranteed maximum price."
Under the CM/GC process, the
contractor assists in the design phase of the project as well as the actual
building. .
Nagelhout beat out Lease Crutcher
Lewis and Baugh, both out of the Willamette Valley.
The board believes Nagelhout
offered the best proposal.
"Through the interview process,
I believe he gave us the most complete proposal," said board member Steve
Keeton, who chaired the subcommittee that conducted screening and interviews.
"What he told you had substance to it."
Keeton noted that Nagelhout
provided line-by-line prices for a list of general conditions.
The other bidders left many
of those line items marked "cost of work." That means that costs would
be determined as the work was done.
According to Keeton, with
Nagelhout's proposal most costs are "locked down."
Nagelhout will take 5.57 percent
as his overhead, profit and fee on the project.
