Sisters firefighters honor their own
Sisters-Camp Sherman Rural Fire
Protection District held its annual awards banquet on Friday, April 12,
at the Sisters Community Church.
It has been a tough year for
the fire district, with long-time board chair Greg Brown resigning under
the cloud of a federal investigation.
Another long-time board member,
Hal Coe, died recently.
Fire Chief Don Rowe acknowledged
the district's two new board members, Dave Elliott and Don Boyd, and saluted
district clerk Susan Houk for her work in the face of the turmoil.
Jay Crawford was named Firefighter
of the Year. Jeff May was twice honored, as EMT of the Year and as Volunteer
of the Year.
Rookie of the Year honors
went to Jeff Liming.
Rowe noted that the fire district
was highly successful in two fund-raising efforts. The district raised
over $13,000 for fallen firefighters after September 11, and carried on
a successful campaign to purchase a thermal imaging camera.
