The intersection is being converted to meet the highway at a 90 degree angle to improve safety, according to county and state road officials.

Jordan Road is a county road, but the Oregon Department of Transportation regulates intersections with the state highway.

"They're going to 'T' it up to Highway 20 for safer access for partitions there along Jordan Road," said Oregon Department of Transportation spokesman Dan Knoll.

Lazy Z owner David Herman said "the Lazy Z has always been multiple lots," and that he had made several lot line adjustments.

One recent adjustment divided one lot at the west end of the ranch into three smaller pieces.

"It appears that their intent is to do more partioning," said county planner Paul Blikstad.

However, Herman stated and Blikstad confirmed that no land use actions are currently pending.

Realtor Jackie Herring said that "we have a couple of home sites on the market today, one of which is serviced by that realignment."

Herring said the realignment is being created primarily for safety and also to create a "legal access point."

Recent state highway regulations restricted access and the ability to move equipment across the highway from one end of the ranch to the other, Herman said.

Both county and state agencies were pleased to have the opportunity to modify the intersection. Jordan Road now comes into the highway at a sharp angle.

"When we've got a nasty intersection like that realigned we want to do it, because it basically makes it safer for everyone who uses it," said county road engineer George Kolb.
