Klatt has taken the Assistant Manager position at a Ray's store in Tillamook.

The move is a big step up for Klatt, who serves as "Third Person" -- the assistant to the Assistant Manager -- at the Sisters store.

"I'm excited," she said. "It's a good change."

Klatt is proud that former manager Robin Davis and current manager Jeff McDonald have the confidence in her to recommend her for the position.

"That's just a huge compliment," she said.

Klatt went to work for Ray's Food Place 4-1/2 years ago. Her family had lived in Sisters for over 30 years (they relocated to Culver three years ago). The long-time Sisters background was a help in getting started in a community supermarket.

Now, Klatt is eager to move into uncharted territory.

"In Tillamook, I know absolutely nobody," she said. She's looking forward to "the challenge of a new store, new customers, new people."

Not that she won't miss folks in Sisters, especially "all the little children who I know by name."

Klatt is particularly fond of those children and counts as one of the delights of her job that she "gets to watch everybody grow and change and learn to walk and talk... it's all here."

As the single mom of a young child herself, Klatt is looking forward to building her career in the challenging grocery business.
