Letters,
letters, letters To the Editor:
Residents of Sisters and the surrounding area owe a debt of gratitude
to Mayor Steve Wilson and members of the Sisters City Council for passing
their resolution expressing a lack of support for the loss of any public
lands in what Mayor Wilson termed "the Squaw Creek corridor."
Clearly, they did hear the concerns of citizens at the recent workshop
hearing.
The council recognized the value of keeping this land in public ownership
through the current proposed land exchange issue and through any future
proposals. Some of the most eloquent statements about the value of this
area to both our area's economy and recreational enjoyment came from council
members at last week's workshop and meeting.
Now, we await statements from all of the Oregon congressional delegation
accepting this action and pledging their opposition to introduction of
any legislation that would cause these lands to be lost.

To the Editor:
This year I graduated from Sisters High School on June 6, and later went
to the graduation party at Sun Mountain Fun Center. I was pleasantly surprised
to win a Vivitar Digital Camera by means of a raffle at the end of the
party.
Several people came to look at my new camera, and the last person I allowed
to look at it told me he put it back in the box. I kept the box with me
the rest of the night, however when I arrived home, there was no camera.
I had not checked to see if the camera was returned to the box, because
I trusted the fellow, and the box was still heavy with the weight of the
instruction manual.
I'm not looking to press charges, I just would like to have the camera
back. If your conscience is bothering you, and you'd like to come clean,
please return the camera, no questions asked, to the Sisters High School
counter Tuesday between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Please leave a note with my
name on it.
Thank you,
