Sisters
Sheriff's calls
- A low-flying helicopter
circling local neighborhoods created some concern among Sisters area
residents. A deputy investigated and found that the pilot is taking
aerial photos for sale to homeowners.
The deputy said he would contact the pilot and remind him of airspace
restrictions and pass along the concerns of citizens.
- A dog owner was cited
after his pooch killed a neighbor's chicken. Bad dog.
- A dog owner was not cited
after her German shepherd bit a transient who was trespassing on her
property. Good dog.
- A Sisters woman reported her daughter as a runaway.
- A woman was reportedly driving recklessly fast in Tollgate, nearly
running down some children. The reporting party lives out of town and
declined to sign a citizen citation. Too much trouble.
- Several cows were reported on Camp Polk Road (see
related story).
- A deputy tracked a runaway teen through the woods before locating
her at a residence.
- A man was reported loitering in a truck with the engine running for
an hour near the Post Office.
When contacted, he explained that he was awaiting a delivery of live
birds. A deputy informed the man that it was Sunday and the mail wasn't
coming.
- A man was reported in
Dry Canyon with weeds (perhaps marijuana?) spread on a tarp.
It was a weed, alright: mullen weeds that the man dries and sells for
medicinal purposes.
- The Sisters Library reported
that an elderly man persists in striking up uncomfortably personal conversations
with patrons.
- A woman complained that
a man -- currently living in the woods near Sisters -- keeps calling
her house in Hawaii. Surf report?
- Deputies arrested a Sisters man for drunk driving (.13 blood alcohol
count) after he was stopped for speeding and weaving across the center
line.
The man reportedly threatened a lawsuit repeatedly on his way to jail.
- A car jumped the curb
and smacked into the side of a Sisters business.
- A deputy dealt with a week-long series of problems between an estranged
couple, sorting out restraining orders, child custody, property, etc.
Information in "Sisters
sheriff's calls" is taken from log entries and reports of the Deschutes
County Sheriff's Office.
