Letters, letters, letters
The Nugget welcomes contributions from its readers, which must include the writer's name, address and phone number. Letters to the Editor is an open forum for the community and contains unsolicited opinions not necessarily shared by the Editor. The Nugget reserves the right to edit, omit, respond or ask for a response to letters submitted to the Editor. Letters should be no longer than 300 words. Unpublished items are not acknowledged or returned. The deadline for all letters is noon Monday.

To the Editor:

I thought there were laws regarding hunting in the city limits.

Sunday morning I noticed a deer limping through my front yard. I noticed he had some blood running down the back of his front leg. As he started to cross the street, in front of my house, a truck pulled up with two guys, dressed in camo. They both jumped out of their truck and watched the deer limp into the forest.

A City of Sisters truck pulled up, they had a conversation and the next thing I knew, they're in front of my house, in town, (between Spruce Street and Buck Run) the hunter picked up his bow and arrow and took aim on the deer!

I was so shocked!

I understand the sport of hunting, but I don't want to see this from my living room, taking place across the street, on private property from where I live. I called the sheriffs office, explained what was happening and to my surprise, shock, no one bothered to ever come by or even call regarding this incident.

I still can't believe this happened. This makes me sick to my stomach. If you want to hunt, how about driving out of town and making a sport out of it instead of chasing down the deer that live and feed right here in town?

Too bad the sheriff's office was too busy to follow up. This is the second time that I have had to call the sheriff and neither time did they think my call was worth their time of day. I remember the day of the Sisters Police Department.

How I miss them!
