Land trust featured in OPB documentary Recognizing the
growing significance of private, voluntary land conservation, Oregon Public
Broadcasting has produced an hour-long television documentary entitled "Oregon
Story: Land Trusts," which airs for the first time on Thursday, October
10, at 9 p.m.
The documentary highlights the accomplishments of Oregon's land trusts,
particularly the efforts of the Deschutes Basin Land Trust.
Prominently featured is the Deschutes Basin Land Trust's "Back to Home
Waters" program, which seeks to restore critical habitat for reintroduction
of salmon and steelhead trout to the Upper Deschutes Basin.
"We're really excited about this film," said Brad Chalfant, Executive
Director of the Deschutes Basin Land Trust.
"We're accomplishing remarkable things here in the Deschutes Basin. This
film really explains the legacy we're creating."
Locally, the film was shot at the Land Trust's Camp Polk Preserve, lower
Squaw Creek and the proposed Metolius Preserve.
"Oregon Story: Land Trusts" was funded with a grant from the U.S. Department
of Agriculture.
The documentary will also air on October 12 and 13 on OPB. |
