Girls
basketball team drops two The girls basketball
team began its season with two losses -- 46-49 to Summit on Tuesday, December
3, and 31-68 to state-ranked Madras on Thursday, December 5.
At home against Madras the
Outlaws found themselves trailing 22-4 at the end of the first quarter.
By halftime Madras had extended their lead to 40-13.
Coach Bill Blevins believes
the girls were intimidated from the very beginning.
"They just need to know how
good they really are and believe it," the coach said.
When the Lady Outlaws took
the court in the second half they looked like a different team.
"We played much more aggressive,"
said Blevins, "and had much more confidence in ourselves."
Minique Yost scored a game
high eight points for Sisters, and Molly Broadbent and Krista Pagano each
contributed four. Ashley Sweeney and Amber Craig each had three blocked
shots.
Earlier in the week, on Tuesday,
December 3, the Lady Outlaws suffered a disappointing 46-49 loss to Summit.
Molly Broadbent led the Outlaws
with 13 points. Misty Macauley contributed eight points, and Minique Yost
pitched in six. Amber Craig pulled down 10 rebounds and had four blocked
shots.
"Our press was very effective
and our ability to go from defense to offense quickly was very effective,"
Blevins said. "Our ability to make lay-ins wasn't effective. It was a
really good game and very exciting, but it was disappointing that we lost."
Things could have gone the
other way.
"In both games we controlled
the tempo and dictated the speed of the game," said Blevins. "If we would
have made our lay-ins against Madras we would have been much more competitive
and if we would have made the lay-ins at Summit we would have run away
with the game."
