Blue D'Arts pack house at athletic club

The Blue D'Arts played to a capacity crowd at Sisters Athletic Club on Saturday evening, January 25.

The intimate setting for this unique "live and seated" performance encouraged the band to offer up a set composed mostly of originals -- some performed for the first time.

Guitarist Dennis McGregor drew laughter from the crowd with his tale of new-found fitness and housekeeping habits in "I Met Somebody" and bassist Johnny Smorgasbord reeled off a litany of baseball metaphors in "She Took It to the Bag."

The band also celebrated the birthday of keyboard player Scott Hersh, who had marked the occasion the night before by seeing legendary jazz keyboardist Jimmy Smith in Portland.

Hersh did a vocal turn on "It Hurts Me, Too."

The Blue D'Arts show is one of a series of winter concerts presented at Sisters Athletic Club.
