Marty and Mindy Berry are the new owners of the Lakeside Bistro at Black Butte Ranch (BBR).

The bistro is located overlooking Lake Phalarope and adjacent to the Lodge swimming pool.

The Berrys offer a wide variety of reasonable food choices including burgers, pizza and salads.

"Our signature food is our barbecue offerings," said Marty. "Whether it's burgers, chicken, hot dogs, ribs or salmon -- our four barbecues put out food that is hard to beat."

Twelve flavors of Eberhard's ice cream are featured and hard ice cream milk shakes are a real summer treat. Draft beer and Australian wines are also available at the Bistro.

The Berrys have lived at BBR the past three years and their relaxed restaurant has family help from parents to cousins, nieces and nephews.

The restaurant seats 50 people inside, with gorgeous views of the lake and mountains; there are also 50 seats on the outside patio deck for warm summer days.

The Berrys host private parties, celebrations and reunions. Theme events are planned as well as dances.

"We want this place to have a friendly, old-time, family atmosphere," said Mindy.

The new bistro adds to the variety of dining experiences available at BBR.

"This gives Ranch homeowners, guests and visitors another dining choice while at Black Butte," says Loy Helmly, Ranch manager. "Presently, the Lodge restaurant offers gracious dining, Big Meadow golf course restaurant offers less formal dining and now, we have a third dining choice for family fun."

The Berry family has had a home at BBR for 25 years and Marty and Mindy honeymooned here 29 years ago.

Marty, who was a pastor in Palm Springs, is also chaplain for the BBR fire department.

There is also a large new display case in the Bistro's inside dining area displaying BBR history. The Bistro is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Starting in July, there will be an 8 a.m. opening and continental breakfast service.
