COCCcomputer lab opens in Sisters
Due to budgetary restraints, the COCC local office closed operations in Sisters this past June. Community Education classes will still be offered locally. A variety of 39 classes are scheduled in Sisters and lists may be obtained at the Sisters Library. The popular computer classes are still quartered in the same building at 160 S. Oak St., and should remain there until winter quarter. At that time, the computers will be moved to the new SOAR building, under construction, and be shared by COCC and SOAR students. The present lab has 12 Dell desktop student computers and one instructor computer station, also a Dell. These are speedy Pentium 3 models running Windows 98 and replace older computer models that had been used in past years. All 13 computers are networked into Bend Cable for fast Internet connections running at 2.4 to 2.7 Mbps. Other equipment includes a Hewlett-Packard LaserJet 4050N networked printer and a Polaroid LCD projector. Computer classes scheduled this fall include Com- puter Basics, Online Auc- tions (eBay), Newsletters, Photoshop, Giclee Techniques, Quickbooks Pro, Digital Photography and Photoshop for Photographers. Registration starts on Thursday, August 28, and classes begin the following month. Students may register by phone at 383-7270, on-line at www.cocc.edu, or at the Bend or Redmond Community Education centers. |
