Sisters
sheriff's calls
- A man reported
that someone threw a firework from a passing car; the explosive detonated
near his house.
- A man reported
being threatened in the course of a dispute at work. It was determined
to be a civil matter (but sort of uncivil).
- A man was spotted
shooting a scoped rifle from a vehicle west of Sisters off Highway 242.
- A local resident
reported seeing a cougar in his back yard north of town.
- Two dogs chased
a cat (definitely not a cougar) into a yard in town, where they mauled
the cat so severely it had to be put down. The resident chased the dogs
off and deputies were unable to track the killers down.
Black Butte Ranch Police
- An officer responded
to a tractor trailer fire near Suttle Lake.
- A kid from Chico
probably wonders what he was thinking trying to bum a ride from a police
officer while he had marijuana in his pocket.
The youth approached a BBR officer to tell him he was lost and
couldn't find the cabin his folks had rented.
After the officer helped him figure out where he was supposed
to be, the youth asked the officer for a ride. The officer put the youth's
bike in his trunk and told him he needed to pat him down for weapons
before letting him in the car.
The youth allegedly consented to this. The officer didn't find
a weapon, but he found marijuana pipes and a small amount of marijuana.
The officer cited the youth and released him into the custody
of his father.
- A BBR officer
assisted sheriff's deputies in trying -- unsuccessfully -- to find a
man who ran away from an accident on Highway 126.
Information in "Sisters sheriff's calls" is taken from log entries
and reports of the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office and the Black Butte
Ranch Police Department.
