Tamarack Village to host open house Tamarack
Village, a development of the Central Oregon Regional Housing Authority,
will open its doors to the public with a day of festivities on Wednesday,
August 20.
Tamarack Village is a multifamily housing development located on a 2.1-acre
site fronting Larch Avenue on the north end of Sisters.
The target population is individuals and families earning typically 30
to 60 percent of the area median income, or $11,400 to $37,740 depending
on the family size.
The community's two- and three-bedroom units include amenities such as
washers and dryers. Each apartment has a private deck or patio; many have
mountain views.
In addition to housing, Tamarack Village offers a 1,270-square-foot community
center, with a conference room, computer station with Internet access,
kitchenette, restrooms and the on-site management office.
The community center will be used to support a referral network for social
services such as home ownership training, parenting skills, education
and organized children's activities. The facility will also host training
opportunities for both Tamarack Village residents and other members of
the Sisters community.
"The defining characteristic of these families," says Cyndy Cook, Executive
Director of the Central Oregon Regional Housing Authority (CORHA), "is
that many families are burdened with inadequate, expensive housing which
consumes too much of their monthly income, leaving little or no discretionary
income to allow them to move on to a higher level of self-sufficiency
or home ownership."
Architect Don Stevens, of Donald E. Stevens Architect, LLC, in Bend designed
Tamarack Village.
The development will be managed by Bowen Property Management Co.
Lease applications are now being taken.
