Healthy Beginnings offers screening Healthy Beginnings is now accepting appointments for a Friday, October 10, children's health screening in Sisters. Healthy Beginnings tests children in vision, hearing, speech and language, motor skills, cognitive development, wellness and safety, dental, behavior and nutrition. Information regarding literacy, car seat safety and lead exposure is also offered. The screening is for children birth to five years old and their parents. Children are welcome to attend whether or not they have health insurance. Healthy Beginnings' goal is to assure parents that their children are developing appropriately or, if needed, to make referrals to early childhood development specialists and the medical community for in-depth evaluation and treatment. Parenting information and community resources are provided free as well. Healthy Beginnings is a nonprofit organization sponsored by a wide variety of organizations in Deschutes County. Healthy Beginnings is one of many programs offered through the support of High Desert Education Service District. Call Healthy Beginnings on or before October 6, at 383-6357 to make an appointment or to volunteer to help. For more information, contact the Program Director, Holly Remer, at 383-6357. |
