Runners hit Sisters Scramble trail
The 5 and 10K race on Saturday, October 25, was staged as a fund-raiser for the Sisters Organization for Activities and Recreation (SOAR). According to Matt Macauley of SOAR, the money is beneficial to the organization, helping to keep the cost of outdoor programs low. But more than that, he said, the organization really wants to promote fun athletic events in Sisters, from running to cycling. The Sisters Scramble seemed to accomplish both goals. According to race director Greg Garretson, the event raised between $800 and $900. And participants seemed to enjoy themselves in the crisp fall weather. "It was perfect," Garretson said. "Everything was great. The runners really liked the course; there were lots of compliments." Except for the start on the street bordering the Village Green, both the 5K and 10K courses followed trails through the woods near Buck Run, offering runners a scenic yet challenging track. Results of the race were as follows: Women's 5K overall: Age group leaders: Men's 5K overall: Age group leaders: Women's 10K overall: Age group leaders: 20-29: Laura Ceaser, Bend Men's 10K overall: Age group leaders: |
