Residents celebrate trail system plan
Nearly 100 hiking, riding and cycling enthusiasts gathered at Sisters Village Green on Saturday morning, November 8, to celebrate the completion of the Sisters Community Trails plan.

Sisters voters easily approve new charter
Sisters' mayor now has a vote on the city council after Sisters residents voted Tuesday, November 4, to approve changes to the Sisters City Charter, which sets laws for the city government.

Traffic signals coming to town
More people, more traffic and congested intersections -- and more people yet to come: Sisters is growing at an annual rate of about 13 percent, which is comparable to the growth rate of Las Vegas, according to city and county reports.

Foot path along 242 getting underway
Construction should start this week on a pedestrian path traveling along Highway 242, from the Forest Service triangle to the high school.

Public views sought on new library
Sisters area residents may discuss plans for the future of the Sisters Library at a public town hall meeting on Wednesday, November 19, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Sisters Fire Hall, 301 S. Elm Street.

Students may soon have different requirements to earn a 26-credit Sisters High School diploma.

Hoodoo back to work after fire
Hoodoo Ski Area escaped the B&B Complex Fire relatively unscathed as the monster fire cut a large swath around the ski area. The fire damaged only 50 acres of the 800-acre Hoodoo Ski Area, limited to the Nordic area to the north of the lodge.

Multnomah building is for sale
The Multnomah Publishers general office building at 204 West Adams Ave. is on the market. The Sisters City Council agreed unanimously in its October 23 meeting to market the building and lot for $949,900.

Permit system will be used on river
Sisters businesses and sportsmen who ply the Deschutes River for fishing and rafting will likely have to get used to new limits on using the river.

SBA chief visits Central Oregon
Hector V. Barreto, administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), was in Bend on Monday, November 10, making a whistlestop on the agency's nationwide Economic Growth Tour.
