Fire consumes Sisters area home A flue
fire smoldered for hours before bursting into an inferno that consumed a
Sisters home on Wednesday, November 26.
According to Cloverdale Rural Fire Protection District reports, the fire
was called in at 4:34 p.m. at 69432 Hinkle Butte Drive in the area known
as Panoramic View Estates east of town.
A neighbor spotted flames coming from the roof of the house. The residents,
who were renters, were away from the home and returned to find it completely
destroyed.
According to Cloverdale fire reports, an improperly installed flue on
a woodstove led to the blaze.
"It had probably burned most of the afternoon before it was discovered,"
said Cloverdale Captain John Thomas. "The house was a total loss."
No one was injured in the fire, nor were any pets harmed, according to
Cloverdale fire reports.
Thomas said the Red Cross responded to help the victims that evening,
but he did not know where the residents were staying after that.
A total of five units from Cloverdale and the Sisters-Camp Sherman Rural
Fire Protection District responded to the blaze; two attack engines and
three tenders. |
