Four-wheelers tear up Three Creeks Meadow

Sometime the weekend of November 25 and 26, someone drove four-wheel-drivevehicles into Three Creek Meadow, the Sisters Ranger District reported.

According to the Forest Service, the drivers plowed through the soft -- and in some cases saturated -- alpine meadow leaving scars that will last for many years in the fragile environment.

Damage was reported in two locations; the worst was immediately adjacent to
the Three Creek Meadow Campground, the other was along Forest Service Road 16.

Forest Service agents reported that the type of damage that was inflicted is very costly and difficult, if not impossible, to repair.

Apparently tire tracks from at least two different vehicles are being investigated. Anyone who can provide information about vehicles in the area of Three Creeks Meadow on November 25 or 26 is asked to contact Paul Williamson of the Sisters Ranger District at 549- 7641.
