Thieves hit Sisters KOA

Thieves hit the Sisters KOA late Friday night, stealing up to $10,000 in power tools, camcorders, cell phones and other items from a workshop and the motor home parked inside, according to owner Denny McCarthy. "A tremendous amount of tools were stolen. Makita cordless hand tools, drills and sanders and routers," McCarthy said. "Our motor home was parked in the building. They got into that too and took camcorders, cell phones, and a camera."

Snowfall lets Hoodoo open for holiday skiers

Finally, and just barely, Hoodoo Ski Area opened on Sunday.

"We got some snow at the tail end of the windstorm and it snowed all day Thursday," said Hoodoo General Manager Mike Obymako.

A Mayflower moving van impounded by Sisters police December 10 was apparently a pawn in a civil dispute between the driver and the truck's owner over payment for services.

Sisters street addresses set for number change

As many as 70 to 80 percent of the street addresses in Sisters will be changed as a result of a new numbering system adopted by the city.

The numbering system, which

was adopted by the Sisters City Council in its December 15 meeting, is designed to make address numbering uniform and consistent. The new system was initiated in part to help emergency services locate addresses quickly.

Cloverdale adds to firefighting arsenal

The Cloverdale Rural Fire Protection District has added a pair of 3,500 gallon water tenders to their fire fighting arsenal, giving the agency enough water on wheels to fight any structure fire that might occur in the area.

Aerobats join the Thunderbirds in air show benefit

The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds military flight demonstration team, headliners for the 1996 Central Oregon Air Show on August 24 and 25, will be joined by several other talented performers.

Sisters woman finishes Honolulu Marathon

Nancy Dyer just returned home to Sisters after completing the Honolulu Marathon on Oahu, Hawaii. Despite the fact the race was run in uncomfortably warm weather and Dyer was just getting over the flu, she said it "was fun, it was a blast."
