Wester Draper, last year's winner of the contest, took fourth place this
year.
The contest required students to produce a 30 second fire prevention television
advertisement which had to feature a "before bucket," a bucket of water for
emergency use, according to Sisters Middle/High School faculty sponsor Jim
Reiss.
Dunn will receive a color television for her work and Draper a video cassette
recorder.
The winner this year was from Scappoose and the third place finisher from
Portland, according to John Mingus, President of the Keep Oregon Green
Association, which co-sponsored the contest along with cable operators and the
Oregon Educational Media Association.
Mingus said his non-profit organization provides fire prevention programs on
behalf of "the owners of 16 million acres of forest land."
Prizes for this year's contest totaled about $2,000.
The television public service announcements will be aired on about 45 cable
television outlets around the state, Mingus said.
