Oregon State Police recovered a homemade bomb found on the McKenzie Highway
near Sisters after a resident reported juveniles throwing objects off the old
Brooks-Scanlon Bridge onto his car.
The driver reported that juveniles dropped gravel and debris on his car at
about 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, October 23.
The driver told police he went back to the bridge but did not find anyone. He
did find a plastic device on the roadway.
Officers contacted the driver at his home where he gave them the device.
According to state police reports, officers "found the device to be a homemade
bomb" comprised of "two shotgun shells, 12-gauge, taped together with a BB
between them to activate the detonator."
Police searched the area, but did not find anyone. There was no obvious damage
to the driver's car.
