Homemade bomb found on roadway

Oregon State Police recovered a homemade bomb found on the McKenzie Highway near Sisters after a resident reported juveniles throwing objects off the old Brooks-Scanlon Bridge onto his car.

The driver reported that juveniles dropped gravel and debris on his car at about 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, October 23.

The driver told police he went back to the bridge but did not find anyone. He did find a plastic device on the roadway.

Officers contacted the driver at his home where he gave them the device. According to state police reports, officers "found the device to be a homemade bomb" comprised of "two shotgun shells, 12-gauge, taped together with a BB between them to activate the detonator."

All about the Sisters Country Police searched the area, but did not find anyone. There was no obvious damage to the driver's car.
