Suspicious fire razes storage building

A fire that appears to have been intentionally set consumed a storage shed at a residence in The Pines early Saturday morning, March 1.

According to Sisters fire chief Don Mouser, the fire is under investigation but appears to have been "started by person or persons unknown."

There were no injuries, but according to resident John Stoller, a painting contractor, the fire destroyed all of his painting equipment, mountain bikes, record collection and other family possessions. Total property loss, including the shed, is approximately $6,000.

Don Rowe of Sisters was named 1996 Citizen of the Year at the Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce annual installation dinner held at Black Butte Ranch Restaurant and Lodge. Black Butte Ranch was presented with the first annual Business of the Year award.
