The Gold Wing Road Riders Association will again hold their Oregon District Rally in Sisters the third weekend of June, 1998. The club rally and nighttime light parade were fixtures in Sisters until two years ago, when the club decided to move their rally to Prineville after the City of Sisters enacted new event permit fees.

According to Gold Wing District Director Dennis Fuller, Sisters offers more to do for club members, and they are excited to be coming back. Fuller met with city and school officials Monday, October 20, to iron out the details of the club's stay in Sisters.

"If we can have a triumphant return to Sisters, I'd anticipate about 600 people," Fuller said.

The club plans to establish headquarters at Sisters High School, where approximately 300 Gold Wingers would camp.

The motorcycle association is about 70,000 strong world-wide, and centers on road touring on stately Honda Gold Wing motorcycles.

"We're middle income, middle class and middle aged," Fuller said.

Club rallies are big social occasions for club members, where they can show off their customized cycles, purchase accessories and participate in drill team maneuvers.
