Eady motel approved
By Jim Cornelius

Developer Ted Eady's plans for a 25-unit motel on his Barclay Ranch property got unanimous approval from the Sisters Urban Area Planning Commission on Wednesday, November 19.

Eady plans to put the four-building complex on 1.5 acres of the Barclay Ranch property that was annexed to the city by the voters in March.

The motel, which could be expanded to 50 rooms, is situated on a fairly expansive piece of ground given the number of rooms planned.

"I've tried to put this together to be less development-intensive than some of the development we've seen in Central Oregon," Eady told the commission.

Eady said that some of the units would be two-room suites, and some single rooms. Any further expansion would depend on what type of room the market demands, Eady indicated.

The motel complex will be accessed from Camp Polk Road. According to city planner Neil Thompson, no road dedications or exactions are required.

However, Eady has told both the planning commission and the city council he is willing to dedicate an extension of Larch Street onto the Barclay Ranch, and a road on the north side of the property connecting Camp Polk Road to the Sisters Industrial Park.

The planning commission indicated they will schedule a joint work session with the city council to discuss that proposal.
