The human-dog bond
Jill had lost her husband a few years ago to cancer, and during the months following his passing, deep loneliness had set in. After all, they had been together for over 30 years. Her best friend advised her to get a dog because they make great companions, so she did. A year later Jill and her best furry friend went everywhere together, a special bond had been formed.

Sisters bat found with rabies
The Deschutes County Public Health Department reports that a bat found in Sisters has tested positive for rabies. Confirmatory tests were performed at the Oregon State Public Health Lab after a Deschutes County resident noticed a dead bat in his dog's mouth. The dog was current on the rabies vaccine and will undergo quarantine for 45 days after revaccination.

A Home to Share opens in Sisters
The first phase of A Home to Share (AHTS) is complete, with a house called Mary Ellen's Place refurbished and ready for residents.
