Women's Cookie Exchange
Women of Sisters are invited to Sisters Community Church on Saturday, December 9 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. to enjoy Renaissance Women Recorder Ensemble and dramatist Laura Clem. Free Christmas Trees!

SCA Christmas Musical

Sisters Christian Academy invites the community to join in a musical adventure to the manger...by camel! There's not a better place to spend a December evening than in "Camel Lot." Book Corner December Sale!

The FOSL Book Corner is open Tuesdays and Saturdays from 1 to 3 p.m. at the corner of Cedar & Main, and throughout December, all books are HALF OFF! Free Christmas Dinner

On Christmas day, the Sisters-Camp Sherman RFPD and the Sisters-Camp Sherman Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Association present the annual Christmas dinner, free to the community. All are welcome to join them at the Sisters Fire Hall at 1 p.m., and no reservation is required. For additional information call 541-549-0771.

Wreaths Across America at Camp Polk Cemetery

This year's ceremony at Camp Polk Cemetery placing wreaths to honor fallen service members will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, December 16. Funds are still being raised to make sure all headstones have a wreath. Donate online at wreathsacrossamerica.org (search Camp Polk Cemetery). Chorale Concerts

This year's theme for the Sisters High Desert Chorale annual holiday concert is "Christmas Traditions." Performances will be held at Sisters Community Church Friday, December 15 at 7 p.m. and again on Sunday, December 17 at 2:30 p.m. All are welcome! Shelter Volunteers Sought

Volunteer monitors are needed for the 5 p.m.-to-midnight shift at Sisters Cold Weather Shelter. Duties include checking in guests, helping with dinner and cleanup, and following the established evening checklist. There are two monitors per shift and training is provided. Volunteer applications are available at the Sisters Library; background checks will be completed. Info: 541-719-8415.

Himalayan Holiday

The 4th Annual Ten Friends Himalayan Holiday is from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 12 at Cascades Academy, 19860 Tumalo Reservoir Rd. The dinner supports the Ten Friends Himalayan Education Center and other projects in Nepal. Enjoy a delicious Nepali meal, silent auction, and unique holiday gifts straight from Nepal! Christmas Music Concert

A special Christmas music concert featuring Sisters Children's Choir, Sisters High Desert Bell Choir, Renaissance Sisters, and the adult church choir will be performed at 10 a.m. at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church on Sunday, December 10. Veterans Invited!

On Wednesday, December 6, Sisters VFW Post 8138 and American Legion Post 86 will meet at 6:30 p.m. at Sisters City Hall. All veterans in the Sisters area are welcome and encouraged to join. Habitat Gingerbread Trail

Follow the Sisters Habitat for Humanity Gingerbread Trail this season! Vote for your favorite gingerbread house by placing a donation in the wooden house at each location. Maps of the 21 participating businesses are at the Chamber, Habitat Thrift Store & ReStore, and each business. All funds collected go toward building homes for families in Sisters. Donate Items for SCWS

Sisters Girl Scout Troop 10732 is collecting donated items for Sisters Cold Weather Shelter, in boxes located at Sisters Elementary School and Sisters Middle School, through Friday, December 15. Bell Choir Performance

On Saturday, December 16 at 2 p.m., all are invited to the Sisters Library to enjoy holiday music with the Sisters High Desert Bell Choir, which was founded in 2008 and has performed at the Sisters Christmas Tree Lighting, talent shows, and much more. Free! For info call 541-312-1072.

See's Candy from Kiwanis

The Kiwanis Club of Sisters will hold their annual See's Candy sales fundraiser out of a trailer in the Ray's Food Place parking lot, now through Saturday, December 30 (or until it sells out!), 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily (half-day on Thanksgiving and closed Christmas Day). Profits go to scholarships, career-change assistance, and other Kiwanis service projects. For more info call 541-588-6255.

Letters to Santa

Santa Claus has a mailbox at the Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce so that children may leave letters for him. Hey kids, be sure to note your name and address so that Santa may write back! The last day to drop off letters is Wednesday, December 20. Questions? Call the chamber at 541-549-0251.

Live Radio Performance

Sisters Classic Old-Time Radio Experience (SCORE) will perform a Christmas radio broadcast for all ages at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13 at Sisters Community Church. SCORE will be joined by the Bend radio group Gigawatts, with many of the sound effects created right on stage. Light refreshments will be served. Free, but donations gladly accepted! Senior Luncheons & More

Sisters-area seniors are invited to join others at the Sisters Senior Luncheon! Lunch is served every Tuesday at noon at Sisters Community Church with a $3.50 suggested donation for those over 60. The espresso hour runs 11 a.m. to noon, and BINGO is played after lunch until 2:30 p.m. A free blood pressure clinic is offered the second Tuesday of the month, 11 a.m. to noon. Questions? Career Funds Available

Applications are available for the Sisters Kiwanis Career Opportunity Fund to help adult residents of Sisters establish an occupational path. You may pick up forms at the Kiwanis House, corner of Oak Street and Main Avenue between the hours of 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Thursdays, and during regular hours from the Sisters Habitat for Humanity office. Caregivers' Support Group

A free support group for caregivers of those suffering with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia takes place at Sisters City Hall the third Tuesday of each month from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Sponsored by the Alzheimer's Association, meetings provide emotional, educational, and social support. Online Fundraising Auction

Camp Eagle Cap offers a one-week wilderness camp in the summer for at-risk kids ages 10-12. The vision of this faith-based organization is to touch the hearts of kids before they get to middle school and high school, and proceeds from the silent auction will help expand to two summer camps in 2018. Habitat Needs Volunteers

Open Computer Lab

Every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Sisters Library, all are welcome to come to the open computer lab to practice skills and get help with issues from library staff. For more information call 541-312-1072.

Taking "Bling" Donations

Sisters Kiwanis takes donations of antique or vintage jewelry and watches, even costume and broken pieces, all year long in preparation for next year's Antique & Collectibles Sale. Habitat Groundbreaking

On Sunday, December 10 at 2:30 p.m. at Village Meadows (corner McKinney Butte Dr. and Brooks Camp Rd.), all are invited to groundbreaking and home dedication ceremonies for three future Sisters Habitat homeowners - Silvia Ayala, Sharyn Benson, and Clara Eberius. Food Assistance at the Kiwanis Food Bank

Your family may be eligible for food assistance at the Sisters Kiwanis Food Bank. Eligibility rules may be found online at fns.usda.gov/tefap or visit the food bank for complete information. The food bank is located at Main Avenue and Oak Street and is Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. You may also get cat and dog food weekly during those hours at no charge, provided by Furry Friends Foundation of Sisters.

BBR RFPD Meeting Canceled

The Board of Directors of the Black Butte Ranch RFPD has canceled the December board meeting. The next meeting will be at 9 a.m. on Thursday, January 25 at the BBR Fire Station. Info, call 541-595-2288.
