Budget Committee Openings
The City of Sisters is accepting applications for two "in-city" volunteers to serve on the Budget Committee, for terms that expire in July of 2020. The committee advises the City on matters pertaining to the budget and typically meets between two and five times in May. Applications are online at ci.sisters.or.us or Sisters City Hall, 520 E. Chamber Awards Ceremony

The Annual Sisters Chamber Awards Ceremony will be held on Thursday, February 16 at 5:30 p.m. at FivePine Lodge & Conference Center. The evening includes heavy hors d'oeuvres by local restaurants, along with a no-host bar. Make your reservations now! Tickets are $35 per person or $280 to reserve a table of eight. Equestrians to Compete

Friday-Sunday, February 17-19, Sisters High School competes against other Central District schools in the OR High School Equestrian Teams (OHSET) meet at the Deschutes Co. Fair & Expo Center in Redmond. Events start around 8:30 a.m. each day, with cowboy church at 7 a.m. Sunday. Free, with vendors on site (please leave dogs at home). Showing of "Screenagers"

The Sisters School District invites the community to a presentation of a film about growing up in the digital age, "Screenagers." It will show on Tuesday, February 28 at 6 p.m. at Sisters High School and is sponsored by The Roundhouse Foundation. The event is free with a donation to the Sisters Kiwanis Food Bank, Family Access Network, or the Sisters Cold Weather Shelter. Questions? Call 541-549-2099.

Join the Choir!

Calling all singers! The Sisters High Desert Chorale and Director Connie Gunterman seek shower singers, road trip singers, radio singers ... ages 15 to 115. The first practice is Monday, March 20, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at The Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration, 68825 Brooks Camp Rd. (and every Monday at that time), with a concert in late May. Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper

On Tuesday, February 28 from 5 to 7 p.m., the annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper at the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration will include buttermilk, plain, and blueberry pancakes with a variety of syrups, sausage, homemade applesauce, and orange juice, coffee and tea. Central Oregon Flora

At the Sisters Library on Wednesday, March 15 at noon, local author LeeAnn Kriegh shares information about the flora and fauna in our own backyards. Spinners/Weavers Group

The Central Oregon Spinners and Weavers Guild will meet at the Sisters Library on Saturday, February 25 from 1 to 4 p.m. and discuss tools of the weaving trade. All fiber enthusiasts are welcome! For more info call 541-639-3217.

Write Your Memoir

Wednesday, February 22 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Sisters Library, Lindsay Wong will lead a workshop on memoir writing. Career Funds Available

Applications are available for the Sisters Kiwanis Career Opportunity Fund to help adult residents of Sisters establish an occupational path. You may pick up forms at the Kiwanis House, corner of Oak Street and Main Avenue from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursdays, and during regular hours from the Sisters Habitat for Humanity office. Friends Book Corner

You can find great buys on an excellent collection of gently used books at the Friends Book Corner! Open Tuesdays and Saturdays from 1 to 3 p.m., it is located on the north side of the Sisters Library, next to the book drop. Proceeds go toward support of the Sisters Library. Chili Feed for Veterans

The 4th annual Chili Feed honoring Sisters-area veterans will be held at the Sisters Fire Hall on Saturday, March 11 from noon until 3 p.m. All veterans and their families are invited to this FREE feed, hosted by Ronnie & Susie Frigulti. Senior Lunches and More

Meet your fellow seniors at the Sisters Senior Luncheon! Lunch is served every Tuesday at noon at Sisters Community Church with a $3.50 suggested donation for those over 60. The espresso hour runs 11 a.m. to noon, and BINGO is played after lunch until 2:30 p.m. A free blood pressure clinic is offered the last Tuesday of the month from 11 a.m. to noon. Family Fun Story Time

Family Fun Story Times for kids ages birth through 5 take place at the Sisters Library every Thursday at 10:30 a.m. The story time features songs, rhymes and crafts, all to grow young readers. Parents or caregivers must attend and are encouraged to participate in all the activities. 541-312-1072.

Open Computer Lab

Every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Sisters Library, all are welcome to practice computer skills and get help with problems at the open computer lab. For more information call 541-312-1072.
