Active-Threat Training
Sisters-Camp Sherman, Black Butte Ranch and Cloverdale fire districts will participate with local law enforcement and USFS in a joint training exercise at Sisters Middle School and Sisters High School Saturday, May 19. This "Active Threat" exercise will simulate their roles at local schools in the event of an active shooter. It will run 8 a.m. to about 1 p.m. Expect to see an increase of emergency services vehicles around both schools during that time. Questions? Civil War Living History

A full Civil War reenactment at House on Metolius is open to the public, Saturday and Sunday, May 19 & 20. Over 200 Civil War reenactors will present living conditions and circumstances of 1863 in the only event of its kind in Central Oregon. Open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and to 4 p.m. on Sunday, with mock battles 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. each day. Entry is $8 (seniors & students, $5 and kids under 6 are free). Or cookies? Or cake? Or cream puffs? The Cloverdale Livestock 4-H Club invites the community to its annual Pie Social on Saturday, May 19 at 6 p.m. in the Sisters Elementary School commons. Women's Luncheon and Presentation on Birds

Women in the community are invited to "Birds of a Feather," a free salad-bar luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 19 at Sisters Community Church. Sisters Seeks Planning Commission Members

The City is taking applications for two in-city or out-of-city volunteers to serve on the Planning Commission for 4-year terms. The Commission reviews major land-use applications and advises the Council on planning policies. It regularly meets at 4 p.m. the third Thursday of the month. Spring Concerts in May

Mr. SHS Pageant

Sisters High School will hold the annual Mr. SHS Pageant in the school auditorium Saturday, May 26 at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 from contestants or at the door. All proceeds from the fundraiser go to Sisters Family Access Network. Questions? Call the school, 541-549-4045.

CPR and First Aid Class

Sisters-Camp Sherman RFPD will offer the AHA "Heartsaver" CPR/AED module Monday, May 21 and the First Aid module Tuesday, May 22 at the Sisters Fire Hall. The cost is $30 which includes a student workbook and completion card. Fundraising Plant Sale

Come support the Central Oregon Veterans Ranch and fill up your garden! Help Survey Birds

You can become an official bird surveyor for the Deschutes Land Trust, recording species and numbers at the preserves. Bird identification skills not required; learn as you go! The Sisters School District presents two free concerts next week, both at Sisters High School: a choir concert takes place on Wednesday, May 23 at 7 p.m., and a band concert takes place Thursday, May 24, also at 7 p.m. During Thursday's concert, the winning ticket will be drawn for a recent quilt raffle.
