Bell Choir Performance
On Saturday, December 16 at 2 p.m., all are invited to the Sisters Library to enjoy holiday music with the Sisters High Desert Bell Choir, which was founded in 2008 and has performed at the Sisters Christmas Tree Lighting, talent shows, and much more. Free! For info call 541-312-1072.

Holiday Showcase at SHS

The Sisters High School Jazz Choir will host a community holiday variety show at the high school at 7 p.m. on Friday, December 15. Along with the choir, there will be performances by other school and community members. A $5 donation at the door benefits the jazz choir. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Chorale Concerts

This year's theme for the Sisters High Desert Chorale annual holiday concert is "Christmas Traditions." Performances will be held at Sisters Community Church Friday, December 15 at 7 p.m. and again on Sunday, December 17 at 2:30 p.m. All are welcome! Volunteer with Habitat!

There are lots of ways you can help Sisters Habitat for Humanity. The ReStore can use help processing donations, along with another person to help with truck pickup and deliveries Tuesdays or Wednesdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Thrift Store currently seeks more cashiers, plus a volunteer in the housewares dept. Letters to Santa

Santa Claus has a mailbox at the Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce so that children may leave letters for him. Hey kids, be sure to note your name and address so that Santa may write back! The last day to drop off letters is Wednesday, December 20. Questions? Call the chamber at 541-549-0251.

Book Corner December Sale!

The FOSL Book Corner is open Tuesdays and Saturdays from 1 to 3 p.m. at the corner of Cedar & Main, and throughout December, all books are HALF OFF! Jazz Choir Holiday Grams

Sisters High School Jazz Choir offers holiday grams that will all be delivered on Thursday, December 21. Email your order to or 2018.lukens.alana@sistersk-12org or call 541-588-2549. Cost is just $5 for on-campus at SHS; $10 for on-campus at Sisters Middle School and Sisters Elementary School; and $15 for any address that is within a 10-minute drive of the high school. The choir will also sing a Christmas carol via a phone call for just $5!

Wreaths Across America at Camp Polk Cemetery

This year's ceremony at Camp Polk Cemetery placing wreaths to honor fallen service members will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, December 16. Funds are still being raised to make sure all headstones have a wreath. Donate online at (search Camp Polk Cemetery). Attendees to the ceremony are encouraged to carpool due to limited parking. Habitat Gingerbread Trail

Follow the Sisters Habitat for Humanity Gingerbread Trail this season! Vote for your favorite gingerbread house by placing a donation in the wooden house at each location. Maps of the 21 participating businesses are at the Chamber, Habitat Thrift Store & ReStore, and each business. All funds collected go toward building homes for families in Sisters. Animal Adventures with High Desert Museum

From 11:30 a.m. to noon on Tuesdays, January 9 and January 23, the High Desert Museum presents live animals, stories, and crafts at the Sisters Library for kids ages 3 to 5. Limited to 30 children; parents or caregivers must attend. 541-312-1072.

Live Radio Performance

Sisters Classic Old-Time Radio Experience (SCORE) will perform a Christmas radio broadcast for all ages at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 13 at Sisters Community Church. SCORE will be joined by the Bend radio group Gigawatts, with many of the sound effects created right on stage. Light refreshments will be served. Free, but donations gladly accepted! Shelter Volunteers Sought

Volunteer monitors are needed for the 5 p.m.-to-midnight shift at Sisters Cold Weather Shelter. Duties include checking in guests, helping with dinner and cleanup, and following the established evening checklist. There are two monitors per shift and training is provided. Donate Items for SCWS

Sisters Girl Scout Troop 10732 is collecting donated items for Sisters Cold Weather Shelter, in boxes located at Sisters Elementary School and Sisters Middle School, through Friday, December 15. See's Candy from Kiwanis

The Kiwanis Club of Sisters will hold their annual See's Candy sales fundraiser out of a trailer in the Ray's Food Place parking lot, now through Saturday, December 30 (or until it sells out!), 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily (closed Christmas Day). Profits go to scholarships, career-change assistance, and other Kiwanis service projects. For more info call 541-588-6255.

Veterans Meetings

Sisters VFW Post 8138 and American Legion Post 86 regularly meet at 6:30 p.m. at Sisters City Hall the first Wednesday of each month, but no meeting will be held in January. All veterans in the Sisters area are welcome and encouraged to join, with the next meeting February 7. For information contact Lance Trowbridge at 541-903-1123.

Free Christmas Dinner

On Christmas day, the
Sisters-Camp Sherman RFPD and the Sisters-Camp Sherman Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Association present the annual Christmas dinner, free to the community. All are welcome to join them at the Sisters Fire Hall at 1 p.m., and no reservation is required. For additional information call 541-549-0771.

Exploring LGBTQ Writers

Friday, January 19 at noon at the Sisters Library, COCC English Prof. Chris Rubio highlights LGBTQ writers and their impact on civil rights movements and literature. Online Fundraising Auction

Camp Eagle Cap offers a one-week wilderness camp in the summer for at-risk kids ages 10-12. The vision of this faith-based organization is to touch the hearts of kids before they get to middle school and high school, and proceeds from the silent auction will help expand to two summer camps in 2018. Annual Chili Feed for Vets

Ronnie and Susie Frigulti present their 5th annual free chili feed for veterans and their families on Saturday, January 20 from noon to 3 p.m. at Sisters Community Church. Senior Luncheons & More

Sisters-area seniors are invited to join others at the Sisters Senior Luncheon! Lunch is served every Tuesday at noon at Sisters Community Church with a $3.50 suggested donation for those over 60. The espresso hour runs 11 a.m. to noon, and BINGO is played after lunch until 2:30 p.m. A free blood pressure clinic is offered the second Tuesday of the month, 11 a.m. to noon. Brass Ensemble Performs!

Saturday, January 20 at 2 p.m. at the Sisters Library, get ready for some toe tapping! Members of the Central Oregon Symphony brass section will be perform works in various genres of music including marches, classical, baroque and ragtime. For more info call 541-312-1072.

Food Assistance at the Kiwanis Food Bank

Your family may be eligible for food assistance at the Sisters Kiwanis Food Bank. Eligibility rules may be found online at or visit the food bank for complete information. The food bank is located at Main Avenue and Oak Street and is Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. You may also get cat and dog food weekly during those hours at no charge, provided by Furry Friends Foundation of Sisters.

Taking "Bling" Donations

Sisters Kiwanis takes donations of antique or vintage jewelry and watches, even costume and broken pieces, all year long in preparation for next year's Antique & Collectibles Sale. The Library Book Club
