Regarding Veterans who Died 2015-2016
If you know of a Sisters-area military veteran who passed away from May 2015 through May 2016, please contact Lance Trowbridge at 541-903-1123. The names are requested to be honored at the Memorial Day Ceremony at Village Green Park, Monday, May 31.

Kiwanis Collectibles Sale
Sisters Kiwanis Annual Antiques/Collectibles/Bling Sale takes place this Saturday, May 28 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Sisters Fire Hall. Jewelry, furniture, collectibles, art and more will be on hand for treasure-seekers! Questions? Call Dan at 805-235-6307, or Roger at 541-430-7395. Funds raised will go to scholarships for Sisters students and other Kiwanis-supported programs.

Stars Over Sisters Star Party
Learn about the night skies! Stargazers are invited to gather at the Sisters Park & Recreation District building on Saturday, May 28 at 9 p.m. for a free presentation and slide show. If weather then permits, plan on heading out to the SHS sports fields to observe the night sky through powerful telescopes. For additional information call Ron at 541-549-8846.

Garden Fair at SES
Saturday, June 4 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sisters Elementary School hosts its 13th annual fair with flower baskets, veggies, herbs, and compost worms for sale. The day also includes a silent auction, face painting, cake walk, crafts, BBQ and entertainment from Sisters Dance Academy! All proceeds go to the Sisters Elementary School gardening program. Career Funds Available
The Sisters Kiwanis Career Opportunity Fund helps adult residents of Sisters establish an occupational path. Pick up an application at the Kiwanis House, corner of Oak Street and Main Avenue from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursdays, and during regular hours from the Sisters Habitat for Humanity office. 541-410-2870.

Memorial Day Ceremony
All are invited to the annual Memorial Day Ceremony at the Village Green on Monday, May 30 from 11 a.m. to noon, presented by Sisters VFW Post 8138 and American Legion Post 86. Color guard will be the Redmond ROTC, with guest speaker Karl Baldessari, Ret. Coast Guard. A lunch of hamburgers will be provided after the ceremony. There is seating for up to 200; if you're able to bring a chair it will help so nobody has to stand through the ceremony. For more info call Lance at 541-903-1123.

Sports Physical Night for Sisters Students
Incoming freshman, juniors, and middle-school youth playing sports are required to have a physical. Physicals will take place Thursday, June 9 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Sisters High School commons & gym. Parents must be present to sign the physical form before the physical takes place. CPR and First Aid Class
The Sisters-Camp Sherman Fire Department will offer the American Heart Association "Heartsaver" First Aid and CPR class on Monday, June 13 from 9 a.m. to about 4:30 p.m. at the Sisters Fire Hall. Seeking Items for Sale
The Three Sisters Lions Club is seeking items for their annual fundraising sale, July 15-17. If you have clean, unbroken, saleable items to donate, you may drop them off Saturdays between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at 497 W. Hwy. 20 (Hwy. 20 & McKinney Butte, across from Washington Federal). Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser

The Library Book Club

DLT Walk + Hike series
April-October, Deschutes Land Trust volunteer naturalists lead more than 120 free walks, hikes, and bike rides. Explore birds, wildflowers, and geology at various protected lands in small groups. Outlaw Open
The annual Outlaw Open will be held Friday, June 17 at Aspen Lakes Golf Course. The scramble begins with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. The tournament includes a dinner, live auction, plus a dance and performance by the High Street Band. $130 per golfer includes dinner, auction, and entertainment. If not golfing, enjoy dinner and entertainment for $30 per person, or just the High Street Band performance and dance for $10. And sponsorships are available. "Crest the Cascades" Ride
The annual Crest the Cascades Bike Ride over the McKenzie Pass (formerly the Ride for Two Rivers), takes place on Saturday, June 18, offering both a long course (57.6 miles) and summit course (26.8 miles). Spinners/Weavers Group

Bottle & Can Drive for Furry Friends Foundation
Furry Friends Foundation can use your redeemable bottles and cans. Help us raise funds by dropping them off (in closed plastic bags, please) to the blue recycle bins on the front west porch at The Nugget.
