8/18/2010 8:56:00 PM Three-car accident on Highway 20 and Gist Road
A Sisters woman went to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries Wednesday afternoon after a three vehicle wreck on Highway 20 at Gist Road.
Deputies from the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene along with medics and fire personnel from the Sisters Fire Department and Cloverdale Fire Department.
The initial investigation indicates that Emily Brown, 19, of Sisters was eastbound on Highway 20 and turned left in front of a westbound operated by Thornton Brown (no relation) 52, of Sisters.
He was unable to stop and collided with the passenger side of the turning vehicle.
Thornton Brown's vehicle then skidded to a stop, sideswiping an eastbound vehicle. That vehicle was only slightly damaged and the driver was not injured.
Thornton Brown had no reported injuries, though his vehicle sustained major front-end damage.
The turning vehicle sustained major passenger side damage and the passenger, Amanda Chappell, 17, of Sisters, sustained reported non-life threatening injuries and was transported to St. Charles Medical Center by Sisters ambulance.
All occupants of the vehicles were wearing seat belts and no airbags deployed. Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in this crash and the investigation is continuing. At this time no citations have been issued.
ODOT responded to the scene and assisted with traffic control as traffic flow was either completely blocked or down to one lane for approximately one hour while the investigation was conducted and the scene was cleared.
