2/14/2014 2:00:00 PM City to offer sandbag station
Sisters residents in need of some sandbags to stave off rising waters from the current rain-on-snow event can pick some up at City Hall.
The city has a load of sand in the southeast corner of the parking lot and has secured about 1,000 sandbags. Residents are invited to fill bags on an as-needed basis.
"It's kind of a do-it-yourself filling station," said city public works project coordinator Nicole Montalvo. "We don't know how much more rain we're going to get and the snow is still melting, so it doesn't hurt to have it available."
So far flooding and high water problems have been minor. Streets are draining well, but there are residential areas where yards don't have good drainage that are beginning to see standing water.
