Lauren Berray succumbs to injuries

Lauren Berray, a 27-year-old alum of Sisters High School died Thursday night, May 29, after suffering a traumatic brain injury in an accident over Memorial Day Weekend.

Family friend Bruce Merrell reports that Lauren Berray went out to ride a skateboard at Black Butte Ranch last Saturday afternoon. She apparently fell and struck her head, fracturing her skull. A passerby found her after an undetermined period of time and contacted 911. BBR emergency personnel responded and Berray was airlifted to St. Charles Hospital.

Berray is the daughter of Rich and Colleen Shultz. Rich Shultz was a school administrator for many years in Sisters. Lauren and her husband Jayson were vacationing at Black Butte Ranch with his parents, Dave and Judy Berray. Lauren is the mother of two small children.

Merrell said that Lauren is well loved by many people.

"She spread sunshine everywhere," he said. "She touched so many lives."

Merrell said that the family is deeply appreciative of the community's prayers and support.

An online account has been set up to assist with medical expenses. You can click here to help with Lauren's medical bills and expenses.
