Firefighters are quickly getting a handle on a fire located off Three Creeks Road an estimated seven miles south of Sisters. The fire burned about half an acre and was human-caused. Investigators are responding to the scene.
Earlier this morning, firefighters from the Oregon Department of Forestry and the Forest Service responded to a fire behind Zimmeran Butte about 3.5 miles west of Sisters. According to Central Oregon Interagency Dispatch, that fire is well in hand at about two acres. The cause is under investigation. Thursday, August 26, 2010

| Highway 242 to be closed to non-fire traffic |
Highway 242 west of Sisters will be closed today, Thursday, August 26, to non-fire traffic.
Firefighters use that route to bring equipment in to battle the Scott Mountain Fire.
Hot, dry, windy weather is expected again today. Sisters may see more smoke in the area.
The fire is unlikely to spread across the Cascade crest due to lava fields that bound the fire's east flank. However, fire crews are monitoring for spot fires.
