Outlaws stomp the White Buffs

The Outlaws trampled the Madras White Buffaloes in a 16-0 shut-out on Monday, March 17, in their first game of the season.

Sisters jumped out quick with a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Cody Kreminski ripped a triple in the second to drive in three runs. The Outlaws scored one additional run in the second to open it up to a 5-0 advantage. The Outlaws added a run in the third and fourth innings, and two more in the fifth to push to a 9-0 lead.

Madras couldn't find the plate in the sixth inning and walked seven of the Outlaws' batters. Sisters tacked on seven more for a 10-run lead, which brought the game to an end.

Sisters had 16 runs off 13 hits and committed only one error in the game. Madras had no runs, one hit and committed six errors.

Jarden Weems was the Outlaws' winning pitcher, striking out four batters in three innings. Ryan Funk came in and pitched two solid innings and Austin Olgilve closed out the final inning. Justin Harrer went three for five with two doubles and a triple. Kremenski went three for three with a triple and Funk went two for four. Olivier also had a triple for the Outlaws.

Coach Steve Hodges said, "It was nice to see how we would perform under game conditions. I was pleased with our pitchers and with every player all the way around. We came out hitting the ball and we got our young guys some varsity experience."

The Outlaws will head south to Arizona over spring break and are looking forward to playing in warmer weather.

"It will be a great time for us to get in sync and get some innings under our belt before league," said Hodges. "We'll work on getting our starting lineup to gel, and we'll work on our communication, especially on defense."

Sisters will travel to Bend on Friday, April 4.
