Outlaws end softball losing streak
With Sara Hartford collecting five hits, Keely Malloy three and Cassidy Ling-Scott hitting a double and a triple, Sisters High School's varsity softball team snapped its 10-game losing streak with a thrilling 24-23 win over visiting Cottage Grove at Volunteer Field last Friday.

Two Sisters riders headed to state
Two Sisters High School athletes have qualified for the state OHSET (Oregon High School Equestrian Team) meet. Rebecca Rubbert, a Sisters High School senior, qualified for state in two equestrian performance events: Western Trail and In Hand Trail. Rubbert has competed in OHSET since she was a freshman.

The Outlaws started off their week with a 3-2 road win at Junction City on Tuesday, April 10, and three days later split games in the double-header at Cottage Grove (CG).

In Tuesday's action, the Outlaws came from behind to top Junction City.

Outlaws tracksters ramp up competitively
Last week, the Outlaws track and field teams began ramping up into competition following a two-week spring break.

Sisters hosted a three-way Sky-Em League meet on Thursday, April 12, against Sweet Home and Cottage Grove and a handful of runners traveled to Willamette University in Salem for the 1A/2A/3A/4A Meet of Champions on Saturday, April 14.

Boys tennis plays in Madras invite
The Outlaws attended the White Buffalo Tournament on Saturday, April 7, and finished fifth out of the eight teams in attendance. Earlier in the week, on Tuesday, April 3, Sisters fell 3-5 at home to Madras in the league opener, and on Friday, they lost 1-4 at home to Henley.

The Lady Outlaws shots were right on target and hit the back of the net over and over again in their 19-13 road win against Marist on Thursday, April 5.

Baseball tallies three wins
The Outlaws packed in four games and posted wins in three of them last week. Sisters posted back-to-back wins early in the week: a 4-2 win over Elmira at home on Tuesday, April 3, and an 11-3 victory over Cascade a day later. On Friday, the Outlaws split their games in their double-header at home against Sutherlin: a 7-3 win followed by a 9-3 loss.

Trail runners battle wind in Rumble
Sunday April 8 dawned with a tempest brewing. Strong winds from the west combined with sleety rain, causing an instant chill for anyone out in it. But by the time the 16th annual Peterson Ridge Rumble trail run began, the clouds had parted and the wind died down a bit, eliminating the threat of hypothermia for runners and spectators.

Golfers get first taste of course play
The Outlaws were glad to get outside and play on an actual course this past week. The boys played in the Tokatee Invitational on Tuesday, March 13, and the girls participated in the Crooked River Ranch Icebreaker a day later.

A three-way meet in Bend in cold conditions was not the type of competition where coaches and athletes expect great marks, but the Sisters Outlaws saw some bright spots in the first outing of the season.

Outlaw softballers open with 21-14 win
Sisters High School's varsity softball team rode the bats of Jourdan Andrews, Tatum Sitz, Isabelle Spitler and Anessa Stotts to explode for 18 hits and 21 runs in opening the season with a 21-14 win over Klamath Union of Klamath Falls.

The host Outlaws scored in every inning, including five times in the fourth when Andrews hit a two-run homer over the right-centerfield fence and Spitler had a run-scoring double.

The boys lacrosse team pulled off an exciting 10-9 win in overtime against Forest Grove on Saturday, March17, and a day earlier steamrolled over Hillsboro in an 8-1 victory.

Tennis players hit the courts
The boys tennis squad played their first match of the season at Ridgeview on Thursday March 15, and battled through light hail, a bit of wind and rain, and in the end lost the contest 6-2.
