Final Winter Concert
on tap this month
Sisters Folk Festival's 2017 Winter Concert Series comes to a close with singer-songwriters Rose Cousins and Caitlin Canty.
Driven by a voice that evokes raw emotion, Rose Cousins' music bravely explores the shadowy corners of the heart. Just as her songs embrace sadness, pain, and longing, these emotions are counterbalanced in performance by quick, wry wit. A native of Prince Edward Island, she lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia, deeply values being part of multiple music communities, and is fueled by collaboration.
Her music has found its way into several TV shows including Grey's Anatomy.
She released her highly anticipated new album "Natural Conclusion" in February - recorded with Grammy award-winning producer Joe Henry. Rose's appearance will feature a full band, and promises to be a very special evening that you won't want to miss.
Nashville-based Caitlin Canty, who made a strong impression at the Sisters Folk Festival, delivers her songs with a dusky alto and a 1930s Recording King guitar. Her breakout record "Reckless Skyline" features an all-star band on 12 songs that veer nimbly between country ballads and straight-up rockers, dark blues and sparsely arranged folk.
Tickets are $20 in advance for adults and $15 for youth (18 & under). Advance tickets can be purchased at www.sistersfolkfestival.org/tickets until noon on March 23. All seats are $5 more at the door. For tickets or information about Sisters Folk Festival, visit www.sistersfolkfestival.org or call 541-549-4979.
