By Sue StaffordTired of looking at the same old art that's been on the wall for 20 years? Or perhaps the walls are bare and could use a painting or photograph. Always wondered what to do with the gargoyle statue received as a housewarming gift?
The Friends of the Sisters Library (FOSL) has the answer - the first-ever-in-Sisters Pre-owned Art Sale, Sunday, July 30, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the library community room and adjoining patio.
To donate no-longer wanted art (paintings, prints, art photography, table-top and free-standing pieces), bring it to the library on Saturday, July 29, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and drop it off with a FOSL volunteer. Donors will be given a signed receipt that they may fill out for tax purposes. Any information about the artwork will be helpful for pricing.
FOSL will reserve the right to reject any artwork they think won't sell, or that they deem inappropriate. Any art that doesn't sell will be donated to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore or Goodwill. If a donor wants an unsold item returned, it must be picked up in the library community room on Monday, July 31, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. After 12:30 p.m. everything left will be removed.
FOSL wants to be sure people understand it is not necessary to make a donation on Saturday in order to purchase art on Sunday and vice-versa; each is a separate event. The proceeds from the sale will go toward supporting the many programs and materials offered by the library.
Artwork may be framed or unframed. If framed, FOSL asks that the frame be intact with no broken glass. All artwork must be clean and undamaged, with no water/moisture or insect damage. Posters will be accepted as well as art quilts, but not large ones like bed-sized quilts or mural posters.
Payment for all purchases on Sunday will be accepted in the form of cash or check only - no credit or debit cards.
