'Cozy mystery' novel set in Sisters
Always up for a puzzle to solve, local author Lanagan Vitaceae is particularly engrossed in writing "cozy mysteries." And inspired by the real town of Sisters, one of her series, "Murder at the Tumbleweed Tea B&B," is a murder mystery that entertains.

Sisters Library is full of beautiful art for the month of December.

In addition to Caroline Stratton-Crow's watercolors and acrylics in the community room ("Art in the natural world," The Nugget, December 6, page 5), the computer room and entryway display cases are showcasing three artists who work in very diverse media.

Kerani Mitchell departs Sisters Folk Festival
It's been almost four years since Kerani Mitchell joined the Sisters Folk Festival staff as volunteer and program manager. Over the years her time with SFF staff, volunteers and students has truly evolved into a family of co-workers and friends.

Volunteer Kip Wheeler reflected on Mitchell's impact: "I've never worked with a better volunteer coordinator. Kerani's ability to combine head and heart never failed to amaze me. She will be missed at SFF.

Sisters Folk Festival earns honors
Sisters Folk Festival was honored with the Organizational Achievement Award from the Folk Alliance Region-West (FAR-West). The Northwest chapter of Folk Alliance International made the award, which is part of the "Best of the West" category. The annual conference was held in Bellevue, Washington, October 5-8.

The Sisters High School music department is performing the Rodgers and Hammerstein Broadway musical "Cinderella" Thursday, November 2 through Sunday, November 5 in the SHS auditorium. Show times are 7 p.m. except for a Saturday matinee show at 2 p.m.
