Sisters Folk Festival earns honors
Sisters Folk Festival was honored with the Organizational Achievement Award from the Folk Alliance Region-West (FAR-West). The Northwest chapter of Folk Alliance International made the award, which is part of the "Best of the West" category. The annual conference was held in Bellevue, Washington, October 5-8.

'Cinderella' on tap at high school
The Sisters High School music department is performing the Rodgers and Hammerstein Broadway musical "Cinderella" Thursday, November 2 through Sunday, November 5 in the SHS auditorium. Show times are 7 p.m. except for a Saturday matinee show at 2 p.m.

2018 Oregon bird calendars available
The 2018 "Oregon Wings and Feathers" calendar is now available. Wildlife photographer Douglas Beall has assembled this year's calendar from his favorite photographs of birds taken in the past year. Beall photographs and writes the Sisters Country Birds feature for The Nugget.

King leaves Sisters on a grace note
At the end of September, award-winning musician, conductor and instructor Stephanie King relocated to her new home in Chestertown, Maryland, leaving Central Oregon's musical culture appreciably improved through her talent and influence. King and her family of five moved to Sisters in 1999, pursuing a less hectic lifestyle after 16 years in Portland.

Festival announces option for partial refund
Those who bought passes for the cancelled Sisters Folk Festival (SFF) may seek a partial refund or donate the price of the pass to the nonprofit. The festival was cancelled due to wildfire smoke-related air quality concerns in Sisters in the week leading up to the event.
