Coffee and breakfast in the morning, beer to go with some flatbread pizza in the evening - Hop N Bean has you covered before noon and after.

The new growler station, located between Sisters Pumphouse and Sun Buster Video in the former location of Subway, features 24 taps with 19 different beers and ales, two hard cider selections, two wines and a root beer.

"We also have six taps of Kombucha Mama," noted co-owner Mandy Strasser.

Kombucha is a healthful brewed tea drink.

A growler is a dark glass jug that allows a customer to take draft beer (or wine or kambucha) home. They come in a variety of sizes, with the large growler running 64 ounces and "growlettes" of 32 ounces. They can be brought in for refills.

Hop N Bean features Kobos Coffee out of Portland, a brew Strasser was familiar with from the days when she worked at the Espresso Junction coffee kiosk. Both Strasser and her partner, Phil Haugen, are well-known in Sisters.

"We've both worked all around town," Strasser said. "I've worked everywhere since I was 15."

The partners are bringing their hard-working ways to bear on their own endeavor. The idea was to combine some of their favorite things - pizza, coffee and beer - in a business model that would serve a Sisters community that shares their tastes. So far, it's working well.

"We get a morning coffee rush ... and then we do a lot of beer at night," Strasser said.

Light breakfast fare is available with that coffee, and there is a rich menu of selections for flatbread pizza and panini sandwiches.

There is a drive-up window for coffee, food, and kombucha; you have to park and come in to pick up your beer. Hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Hop N Bean will be celebrating a grand opening on Saturday, July 6, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Representatives from breweries will be on hand, and there will be free coffee samples.

Hop N Bean is located at 523 E. Hwy. 20. For more information call 541-647-4700 or visit www.hopnbean.com.
