Sisters scouts experience jamboree
Three sets of brothers from Sisters helped celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts this summer at the 2010 National Scout Jamboree in Fort A.P. Hill, Virginia. They returned with tales of trading scout badges, seeing celebrities, visiting historical monuments and living through crazy rain and thunder storms.

Schools escape new round of cuts
The budget ax has fallen again. This time it missed the Sisters School District. A combination of stimulus monies from the federal government and a firm pledge from the governor and the Oregon State Legislature has given the school districts around the state, including Sisters, a little breathing room.

Budget cuts threaten school 'excellence'
Earlier this month, Sisters' new superintendent of schools, Jim Golden, was told that the newly approved federal stimulus funding included approximately $118 million slated for Oregon schools. It looked like the Sisters School District would get $200,000 to $250,000 in pass-through funds - great way to start a year of budget challenges.
