Robotics teams wins at Central Oregon League Championship
Sisters Robotics teams made an outstanding showing at Sunday's Central Oregon League Championship. Both of the Sisters-based teams advanced to the FTC Super Qualifier to be held in February at the Evergreen Space Museum in McMinnville.

Schools closed Friday
All Sisters schools are closed Friday, for the second day in a row, due to the effects of a major early snowstorm. Road conditions in the Sisters Country are extremely poor due to snow and freezing rain. Drivers should avoid travel and use extreme caution when venturing onto the road.

Sisters schools closed Thursday
An early winter storm has caused the closure of all three Sisters schools on Thursday, according to district officials.

A mix of snow and freezing rain is predicted through Thursday night and into Friday. Accumulation of four to eight inches is possible.

Drivers are advised to limit travel and exercise caution on the roads.

School board rejects lawsuit waiver request
In a 5-0 vote Wednesday, the school board voted to deny local resident Mike Morgan's request to waive the Oregon State Supreme Court judgment that he should reimburse the district for the $500 supreme court filing fee in the case of Morgan vs. Sisters School District.

On Tuesdays at 1:30 p.m., a school bus drops off a group of eager students from Sisters High School Special Education teacher Josh Nordell's life skills class at the Community Garden next to Sisters Eagle Airport, to learn about planting and caring for flowers, vegetables and trees.

Voters say no to school bond
Voters firmly rejected the Sisters School District's request for $14.5 million in bond funding for facilities repair and maintenance and technology purchases. The measure went down in the November 4 election by a margin of 56 percent to 44 percent.

Crystal Peaks Lower Ranch begins to blossom
A little more than a year ago Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch (CPYR) was the recipient of an extraordinary gift. After 18 years of running their program for rescuing at-risk horses and challenged kids from the confines of their nine-acre "cinder pit," a casual visitor purchased the 50-acre working ranch across Innes Market Road from CPYR and donated the ranch to the program.
