Sisters sheriff's calls...
• A resident of Panoramic reported the theft of two yard signs reading "No Cell Tower" as a dispute over a proposed AT&T telecommunications facility heats up.

• A deputy responded to a residential burglar alarm - the third in 24 hours. He saw a bat flying around in the living room, the likely culprit in triggering the alarm. The homeowner said he was returning from out of town and would deal with the bat. No word on whether the bat had a Romanian accent.

• A 42-year-old man fooling with his vehicle's CD player took out a section of fence along Highway 20 and hit a parked car, doing more than $3,000 in damage. His vehicle and travel trailer were also damaged.

• After being arrested for domestic assault last month, a man left his pregnant dog to fend for itself. The dog had puppies. While the DA's office declined to pursue animal neglect charges, the sheriff's office did cite the man for 34 counts of unlicensed dog.

• The manager of a local subdivision reported receiving an obscene phone call after an argument with a homeowner over CC&Rs. The homeowner denied making the call, though he acknowledged a long-standing dispute over homeowners association rules. The investigating deputy did not think the voice on the voicemail matched the homeowner's. In any case, the homeowner agreed that he would not be calling.

• A 26-year-old man went to jail for domestic assault witnessed by a minor child.

Sisters sheriff's calls...
• A man reported his vehicle stolen from a campground. It was later recovered. A woman had thought she had permission to use it whenever she wanted. She was mistaken. She was also cited for drug possession when a deputy found methamphetamine residue in her purse.

• A 26-year-old man was arrested for drunk driving after he ran into some mailboxes returning from the brew fest in Bend. He had a blood-alcohol count of .14 percent.

• In a separate incident, a 49-year-old man was arrested for DUII, even though "he only had two beers."

• Balloons used in a demonstration of the visual impact of a cell phone tower in Panoramic were cut from their string. The reporting party suspects sabotage...

• A man reported another man following him around town. He thinks the guy wants to start a fight.

• A man was cited for harassment after a shoving match over a bicycle.

• A 29-year-old who recently moved to Sisters was arrested for assault after a domestic dispute witnessed by juveniles.

• In a couple of instances, deputies were forced to dispatch road-injured deer.

• Deputies made several DUII arrests last week, including a woman intoxicated with alcohol and prescription drugs, who crashed her car on Fryrear Road. She suffered minor injuries.

• A driver took out several mailboxes on Central Street in Sun Mountain. The driver contacted owners with insurance information.

• A 42-year-old woman was arrested after she hit her husband in a domestic spat. The husband was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

• A driver crashed after swerving to avoid an elk on Camp Polk Road at Indian Ford Road.

• A woman reported items stolen from a foreclosed-upon home.

• A man was arrested for menacing and disorderly conduct after he terrorized people at Lava Lakes Campground off Highway 242, threatening to kill them with a chain saw.

• A kitchen fire in the Cloverdale fire district left two with minor smoke inhalation and caused heavy smoke damage to their home.

• A Sisters merchant reported the theft of two rings.

• A man got impatient at the Highway 20/McKinney Butte intersection and pulled into traffic. He didn't see an oncoming vehicle and there was a collision.

• Someone broke into a home whose resident had been moved to an assisted-living facility. Some jewelry was reported stolen.

• Sheriff's deputies and search and rescue responded to several reports of lost hikers.

• Deputies are investigating an alleged diversion of water from Whychus Creek in Sisters that is reportedly causing erosion in the reporting party's yard.

• A man was injured in a motorcycle crash on Highway 242.

• A man was cited for harassment after he got into a domestic squabble with his adult daughter over a vehicle left running in the driveway.

• A man was counseled about the dangers of fireworks after he shot off several (well after July 4). The man thought he was being safe because he shot them off over his pond.

• A man working on a road maintenance project reported receiving verbal threats from a resident upset about tree removal involved in the project.

• A man was cited for hit-and-run and other violations after a crash.

Sisters sheriff's calls...
• A deputy made a high-risk stop on a car after a passerby reported the passengers shooting at road signs along Highway 20 near Black Butte Ranch. Turned out they were shooting airsoft guns. They were cited for disorderly conduct and one was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

• A woman was seen trying to get into cars in the Sisters Park & Recreation District parking lot. She was drunk, trying to find a place to lie down while her friends played disc golf. A deputy booted her from the property and a sober friend drove her home to Bend.

• A man punched his wife in the face and knocked her down in front of their house. A neighbor witnessed the incident.

• A man reported that two of his black angus cows apparently ran off with a herd of elk. Ah, the call of the wild...

• A woman complained about a neighbor's goats coming onto her property. The area is open range.

• A man reported that someone was placing bogus bids on eBay items using his name and

password.

• A local resident reported tack stolen from a barn.
