Sisters Antique Faire packs park

An antique hunter looks over the wares...

The Sisters Antique Faire brought hundreds of antique hounds to the Village Green last weekend.

Visitors -- estimated at 8,000 strong -- hunted through 115 booths on the packed green, exploring collections of furniture, clothing, glassware, Americana and more.

The show was in its second year under the sponsorship of the Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce. Dealers came from throughout the Pacific Northwest and California.

Many antique hunters scouted the grounds on Saturday, identifying likely targets. They returned on Sunday to make offers, seeking bargains from dealers reluctant to haul that big piece of furniture to yet another show.

Chamber events coordinator Jeri Buckmann declared the event a success, noting that many vendors have already signed up for next year. Vendors reported to her that many shoppers reported visiting Sisters specifically to attend the antique faire.

Those shoppers seemed to do well.

"People were walking out of there with their arms full --including myself!" Buckmann said.
